Pointillism Art

In art this term we have been studying the technique of Pointillism. We firstly studied some famous artists who have used this style in their painting. We then had a go ourselves. We found it quite tricky to start with as we only had the colours of red, blue, yellow and white. We therefore had to mix our colours really carefully. After a few trials we drew out an autumnal scene and then used a cotton bud to create the dots. We publish some pictures of our finished paintings very soon!

Anglo Saxon Adventures!

What an amazing time we all had with Gemma at Hillers where we participated in an Anglo Saxon day. Throughout the day we were able to discover so much about this period of history through the handing of artefacts, going on our own archaeological dig, writing in runes, weaving bracelets, using a flint and steel to make a spark and toasting apples over an open fire. We even managed to find the time to build our own shelters using natural resources.

It was so lovely to learn in the open air and a huge thank you to the whole team at Hillers and Gemma from Trench 1

A fantastic start to Year 4!

Thank you so much for all of your enthusiasm and hard work over the last two days! You have all worked so hard and we are really proud of your positive start to this new year.

From learning to be archaeologists , when trying to remove the chips from a chocolate chip cookie. Not as easy as it would seem! To solving the mystery of Beer Cart Lane, through the reading of different historical sources. We have also begun looking at food groups in science and place value in maths! Plus lots more! What a busy few days!
